Angelina Jolie Tattoo
There is no question that Angelina Jolie is one of Hollywood’s
hottest stars. She sports a toned body, gorgeous eyes, luscious lips,
and perfect hair. However, what Jolie also shows off is a number of
notable tattoos that many agree add to her unique beauty. The star has
at least a dozen pieces of body art, and each has a special, personal
meaning. She never tried to hide these markings on the red carpet, and
her beauty and confidence have encouraged other women to get tattoos.

Jolie’s tattoos are certainly diverse. She has words and sayings in
at least six languages including Arabic, Japanese, Latin, and the
ancient Khmer script. She has also gotten her tattoos in several
countries on at least three continents. Although Jolie has many tattoos,
these pieces of art do not overwhelm her appearance. They are
strategically spaced so that no one region appears heavily ridden with
body art. This helps the star keep her femininity while still finding
ways to express herself. Also, Jolie’s tattoos are not meant to be
ostentatious. Most are small and all have deeply personal meanings.
If you look closely at the inside of Jolie’s left wrist, you will see
a simple letter “h”. This tattoo is one of many dedicated to her family.
It is an acknowledgement of her brother, James Haven. Another personal
tattoo is a list of latitude and longitude coordinates on her left arm.
These numbers may seem random, but they are actually the locations where
her children, Maddox, Zahara, Pax, Shilo, Vivienne, and Knox, were born.
Another tattoo, a special quote, was actually a joint endeavor with
Jolie and her mother, and another saying commemorates her adopted son
Maddox’s origins.
One
of the most unique features of Jolie’s tattoos is her flexibility in
sporting body art. Jolie not only adds new pieces to her collection, but
has also had several tattoos modified or removed. Most notably, Jolie
used to have a tattoo on her arm showing her love for Billy Bob Thorton.
However, when the couple split, Jolie had her ex-husbands name removed.
Another ex-husband tattoo, one she shared with Johnny Lee Miller, was
covered up by a new artistic piece; a quote from author Tennessee
Williams. Jolie also had a dragon converted to a cross and a Japanese
character converted into a quote for her son.
Many of Jolie’s movie roles have required makeup artists to cover up
her tattoos. However, the actress’ supreme talent has made this extra
effort seem worthwhile. A few extra touches with a makeup brush and
Jolie can transform her body for the cameras. So, if you are looking to
spot some of her telltale marks in Tomb Raider or Mr. and Mrs. Smith,
think again. These films are notorious for not showing a single one of
Jolie’s pieces of body art. However, all of the star’s tattoos can be
spotted in the many images of her that exist in publication and online.
Plus, the star is likely to get even more tattoos in the future. |
